Investigations
CPSG, in conjunction with PASSA, carries out investigations into alleged spontaneous psychic phenomena occurring in the Derbyshire / Nottinghamshire / South Yorkshire area, in an attempt to identify whether the phenomena are actually paranormal or normal in nature and to throw light on the conditions giving rise to such phenomena. In a minority of cases, where the subject of the investigation is experiencing a significant problem because of the phenomena, a recommendation will be made regarding how to bring the phenomena to a halt.
The Group has so far looked into cases involving:
The format of an investigation depends, of course, on the nature of the phenomena being investigated, but would typically consist of some or all of the following:
- initial interview with the person(s) reporting the phenomena
- examination of the physical environment
- obtaining back-up evidence from independent witnesses
- holding one or more vigils, for the purpose of scientifically observing, measuring and recording anything out of the ordinary
- researching the history of the building
- obtaining psychical impressions from a medium
- analysing all the data in an attempt to come to a conclusion
- writing a report on the case.
If you are the subject of such phenomena and would like them investigated or hear or read of any unusual phenomena which you think would be worthy of investigation, please bring them to the attention of the Investigations Officer, Cherill Royce-Dexter (tel. 01246 239404).
